Twitch’s CEO Expects GTA VI Multiplayer “Next Year” — He Runs Twitch, Not Rockstar
Dan Clancy told Bloomberg he has spent a lot of time talking with Rockstar about their plans, and expects an even bigger streaming bump in 2027 “when they launch multiplayer”. Rockstar has announced nothing of the kind.
Reported — Twitch’s chief executive said it in a Bloomberg interview published on September 17, 2026. Nobody at Rockstar or Take-Two has confirmed it, so it stays Reported however well connected the speaker is.
What he said: “You are going to see this big bump with GTA 6, but then an even bigger one next year when they launch multiplayer.” He also said Twitch has “spent a lot of time talking with Rockstar about their plans, and also helping them think about how they can engage our creators.”
Why it is not a confirmation: Clancy was talking about what Twitch is planning for, not announcing Rockstar’s schedule, and Bloomberg itself frames the 2027 timing as what he anticipates. The day before, at Take-Two’s annual meeting, Zelnick said only that the company will keep supporting the existing GTA Online — no date, no description of a GTA VI online mode.
Where it fits: it is the second outside signal this month pointing at an online component after launch, alongside the employment-tribunal filing that referred to an “Online 32 player format”. Neither is Rockstar speaking. The only thing Rockstar has said is what ships on November 19: a single-player game.
The limit of this story: an executive at a partner company saying he expects something is a forecast, not a release date. If Rockstar announces an online mode, that will be a Newswire post, and it will be labelled Confirmed here when it appears.
