Rockstar: Trailer 2 Is the Biggest Video Launch of All Time
Trailer 2 dropped May 6, 2025, and Rockstar says it pulled over 475 million views across all platforms in its first 24 hours; The Hollywood Reporter compared that with the 365 million of the Deadpool & Wolverine trailer. We break down why the hype keeps compounding.
Confirmed that Rockstar made this claim — the figure is the publisher’s own, reported by VGC.
Trailer 2 dropped May 6, 2025. Rockstar says it pulled over 475 million views across all platforms in its first 24 hours. The comparison is not Rockstar’s: The Hollywood Reporter set it against the Deadpool & Wolverine trailer’s 365 million.
The honest caveat, which Rockstar’s own phrasing depends on: this is a combined cross-platform number, and a “view” means something different on each service — a few seconds of autoplay on one, a deliberate click on another. It is not 475 million people. It is a real and enormous number that is not directly comparable to a single-platform YouTube count, and nobody outside those companies can audit it.
Corrected September 22, 2026: this story named YouTube, TikTok and X and called 365 million “the previous record” as if Rockstar had said so. VGC reports Rockstar’s figure as “across all platforms”; the 365 million comparison is The Hollywood Reporter’s.
