Sam Houser: The First Trailer for the Next Grand Theft Auto Comes in “Early December”
Marking Rockstar’s 25th anniversary on November 8, 2023, its co-founder set the reveal. Rockstar then dated Trailer 1 for December 5 and posted it on the evening of the 4th.
Confirmed — the announcement came from Rockstar’s own account, signed by co-founder Sam Houser, on November 8, 2023.
What he said: “We are very excited to let you know that in early December, we will release the first trailer for the next Grand Theft Auto. We look forward to many more years of sharing these experiences with all of you. Thank you, Sam Houser.” The message marked 25 years since Rockstar was founded in 1998.
What followed: on December 1 Rockstar dated Trailer 1 for Tuesday, December 5, 9am ET. It went up early, on the evening of December 4: Grand Theft Auto VI, set in Leonida and Vice City, coming in 2025 to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
The limit of this story: that 2025 window did not hold. The game slipped twice and now launches on November 19, 2026.
